What We Fix
A high-end refrigerator is a precision machine, and the built-ins that anchor kitchens in RidgeGate, Heritage Hills and the Bluffs are engineered very differently from a standard fridge. We service the full range of refrigeration faults on built-in, column and integrated units:
- Refrigerator or freezer that will not cool, or cools unevenly
- Warm fresh-food side with a working freezer (or the reverse) on dual sealed-system units
- Frost or ice buildup on the rear wall, coil or freezer floor
- Water pooling inside or leaking onto the floor
- Loud humming, buzzing or clicking from fans and compressors
- Doors that will not seal, sweat or spring back
- Failed lighting, control panels and temperature displays
Common Problems and Typical Causes
Most warm-refrigerator calls come down to a handful of causes, and telling them apart is the whole job. A dirty condenser makes a compressor work too hard and can mimic a bigger failure. A failed evaporator fan stops cold air moving even while the compressor runs. A defrost heater or sensor fault ices the coil until airflow chokes off. A tired thermistor or control board reads the wrong temperature and manages the system incorrectly. And a true sealed-system leak, while less common, needs appropriately qualified handling. We check these in order rather than replacing parts on a guess.
Symptom, Likely Cause, and What We Do
| Symptom | Likely Cause | Our Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Fresh food warm, freezer cold | Refrigerator sealed system, evaporator fan or damper | Test each system, replace the failed component, verify airflow |
| Both sides warm | Condenser fouling, compressor or control fault | Clean and test the condenser circuit, diagnose compressor and controls |
| Frost on rear wall | Defrost heater, sensor or timer | Test the defrost circuit and replace the failed part |
| Water on the cabinet floor | Blocked defrost drain or cracked line | Clear the drain path, replace damaged tubing |
| Loud or cycling noise | Evaporator/condenser fan or compressor mount | Isolate the source and replace the worn part |
What we will not do is condemn a built-in refrigerator that does not deserve it. A Sub-Zero, Thermador or Monogram built-in is a five-figure appliance framed into cabinetry that was measured around it, and the components that actually fail on one are fans, sensors, heaters, gaskets and relays costing a tiny fraction of that. A fifteen-year-old built-in running a few degrees warm is very rarely at the end of its life. On the uncommon occasion the economics genuinely favour replacement, we will say so plainly and give you the number rather than quietly selling you the larger job.
One thing that helps a diagnosis more than people expect is knowing how the problem arrived. A refrigerator that drifted warm over two or three weeks tells a different story from one that was fine at bedtime and warm at breakfast. Gradual warming usually points at a fouled condenser, a seal that has stopped sealing, or a fan slowly giving up. A sudden failure points at a specific component that let go. If you noticed when it started, tell us when you book; it often narrows the circuit before we open the cabinet.
Brands We Service
Sub-Zero is our core, and we bring the same depth to Thermador, Viking, Liebherr, Monogram, True Residential, Dacor, Jenn-Air and KitchenAid refrigeration. See the full brand list for models and fault codes.
