Jenn-Air built its reputation on the downdraft cooktop and has grown into a full luxury suite of ranges, ovens, cooktops and built-in refrigeration. Because it sits within the Whirlpool family, the diagnostics are refreshingly clear: the F#-E# code format tells a trained technician both the fault family and the specific failure, so there is less guesswork and more precision. That does not mean the code is the answer by itself. An F3-E0 sensor code still has to be confirmed at the sensor, and an F2 over-temperature has to be traced to a stuck relay or a bad reading. We service Jenn-Air this way across Longmont and the surrounding communities.
Sitting inside the Whirlpool family gives Jenn-Air a model-specific advantage that owners rarely hear about: parts availability and documentation are excellent. Where a low-volume European marque can leave a kitchen waiting weeks on a board from overseas, most Jenn-Air components are stocked domestically and can be in hand quickly. The diagnostic literature is thorough and the F#-E# structure is consistent across the range. The practical upshot for a Longmont owner is that a Jenn-Air repair is usually a short story: diagnose it properly, get the part, fit it, done. We can often complete one with timing based on diagnosis and parts availability when the code has been given to us in advance.
Models We Service
- Ranges: the RISE and NOIR series dual-fuel, gas and electric ranges.
- Wall ovens: single, double and combination wall ovens with the connected controls.
- Cooktops: gas, induction, electric and the signature downdraft cooktops.
- Refrigeration: built-in, column and counter-depth refrigerators.
- Dishwashers and ventilation: integrated dishwashers and hoods.
The model and serial plate is on the oven frame, under the cooktop, or inside the refrigerator. Send those numbers and any code when you book.
Error & Fault Codes
Jenn-Air uses the Whirlpool F#-E# fault codes. These are the ones we see most in Longmont kitchens.
| Code | What It Means | Our Fix |
|---|---|---|
| F1-E0 / F1-E1 | Control board fault | Test and replace the control |
| F2-E0 | Over-temperature or control fault | Check the sensor and relay, replace as needed |
| F3-E0 | Oven temperature sensor open or shorted | Replace the oven sensor |
| F5-E0 / F5-E1 | Door lock or latch fault | Repair the door lock assembly |
| F7-E1 | Stuck keypad button | Replace the touch panel |
Common Problems We Fix
- Oven F-codes: sensor, control and door-lock faults that stop heating.
- Weak downdraft: blower motors, clogged ducts and stuck dampers.
- Burner and element issues: no light, weak heat, or a dead induction zone.
- Refrigeration warming: fan, defrost and sensor faults.
- Ice-maker problems: no ice, low output, or water-valve faults.
- Control and connectivity faults: touch panels and boards.
The downdraft system is Jenn-Air's signature and it generates service calls no other brand produces. Instead of a hood overhead, a fan pulls cooking air down through a vent at the cooktop and out through ducting run under the floor or through the cabinet base. When a downdraft stops pulling properly, the fan itself is often fine and the problem is somewhere along a duct run that nobody has looked at since the house was built: a damper stuck shut, grease built up in a long horizontal run, or an exterior cap that has been blocked. Diagnosing one means tracing the whole air path rather than swapping the blower, and it is work that rewards knowing the system.
The F#-E# codes are worth reading properly rather than treating as a part number. The first half names the fault family and the second half the specific failure, so F3-E0 and F3-E2 are both sensor faults but they are not the same sensor, and fitting the part that fixes one will do nothing for the other. We have seen units where a previous visit replaced the component matching the family code alone and the fault returned within the week. Reading both halves, then confirming the reading at the actual component, is the whole discipline on these machines.
If you own a Jenn-Air downdraft, the maintenance that matters most is the part you can reach. The grease filters at the vent lift out and go in the dishwasher, and doing that every few weeks keeps grease from migrating into the ducting where nobody can clean it. A downdraft that has been run for years with loaded filters ends up with a coated duct run, and at that point the fan can be in perfect health while the system moves very little air. Clean filters are the cheapest performance you will ever buy on one of these.
On the built-in refrigeration, pull the base grille once or twice a year and vacuum the condenser behind it. At our elevation the air is thin and dusty, the coil loads up faster than it would at sea level, and a fouled condenser makes the whole system work harder for a worse result. It is a five-minute job that heads off a service call.

Jenn-Air Showing a Code?
Book a diagnostic online or call with the model and the full code. Diagnostic and travel fees, if applicable, are confirmed before the appointment and before repair approval.
If your Jenn-Air is showing a code, write down both halves of it before you clear the display and give it to us when you book, along with the model number from the plate. Because parts for this brand are stocked domestically and the codes are precise, that one piece of information is often the difference between a diagnostic and two. It is the fastest thing you can do to get your kitchen working again.
